Greetings from the desert! With the relaunch of our website, we at Original US Coins are super jazzed about the coin market and the future of collectible coins. Welcome!
I’m so proud of the team we have formed at OUSCC. We operate across the country with support locations in Arizona, Nevada and Vermont. WE love coins!
Historically, the summer months were always a -reset- in the coin market, a time to hit the beach, take family vacations, tackle yard clean up and finish the “To Do” list that everyone maintains.
Attending the local coin show or stopping by the local retail coin shop was how 99% of coin buy/sells occurred. Not anymore – with online DAILY auctions happening almost non- stop, coin collectors can bid, purchase and acquire rare coins ANYTIME, including summertime!
Facebook, Instagram and other social media sites are a mega source of just about anything you’d ever want, including coins. Cash App, Zelle, Venmo and PayPal all make paying and getting paid unbelievably easy. There are many pitfalls to go along with these sites, including fake (or stolen) profiles, fraudulent credit cards and those selling coins they don’t own. Yes. I’ve seen all of these. Almost weekly. Some tips are to research the sites/seller, establish a relationship and to remember often if it’s “too good to be true” – it may be.
So – what about the coin market right now? It’s VERY robust and active to say the least. No doubt gold and silver prices have positively impacted the market, fears about the U.S. dollar weakening, economic worries and fear about the National debt all form the perfect storm for the coin market. Most people don’t want to hold a lot of cash in accounts, but tangible assets that you can hold in your hand, are reassuring in a world of worry. I personally know about 20 people who have abandoned the U.S. Stock Market and paid off debt, bought real estate, rare coins and precious metals to diversify their holdings to try to minimize the risk of US currency being devalued.
